Schlagwerk U72 udu met vel
Descrizione
The udu is used as part of the traditional ceremonies of the Igbo tribe in South-East Nigeria. Pronounced 'oo-do', the word literally means 'pot' in the Igbo dialect. Made from clay, this pot produces a full, characteristic sound and, since this example has been designed and made by German percussion builders, Schlagwerk, it comes with a particular durability that only supports the surprisingly rich tone of this unique instrument.
Features of the Schlagwerk U72 Udu
The Schlagwerk U72 is two centimetres larger than standard udus and comes fitted with a batter head on the bottom that can be struck for a harmonious bass tone. This instrument is played by striking the skin, body, or the sound hole on the side to displace the air inside and create a variation of percussive sounds. The udu is 37cm high and has a 27cm diameter, has been beautifully yet subtly finished and comes with a shallow pedestal.
