A modern take on a timeless classic, the Guild Starfire IV ST Flamed Maple semi-acoustic bears the same vintage-flavoured double-cut body shape that's been a hit since the sixties. The construction combines an arched maple top, solid spruce centre block and maple back and sides with a mahogany neck shot through with a maple centre-strip and finished with an ebony fretboard with pearloid inlay position markers. Old-school detailing includes a Chesterfield logo on the headstock and a black pickguard stamped with a vintage Guild logo and gold star. Finished in Natural Flamed Maple, this edition of the Starfire has all the right specs in all the right places.

Tight Hardware

The Starfire IV isn't just cut from the right wood but comes mounted with the right hardware, so the Tune-O-Matic bridge and Stopbar tailpiece has been teamed up with a set of high-grade Grover Sta-Tite Open-Gear machine heads to ensure stable tuning, and in terms of sound, you're treated to a Guild LB-1 Little Bucker at the neck and the bridge: direct replicas of Guild's original offering from the sixties. This setup grants this guitar a singular sound that sits somewhere between that of a pair of single-coil pickup and a pair full-sized humbuckers, providing all the necessary power without compromising an inch on warmth and clarity. The volume and tone can be dialled in per pickup, while the three-way switch can be toggled to combine or isolate both Buckers.
